  • Is this for singles or couples?

Both.  Most of the people on all of our trips are single.  We do get couples as well, but mostly singles.  Some come with a friend or two, or even a small group, and MANY come solo.  That is why our trips work.   They are great for everybody.  You will meet many new friends whether coming alone, with a friend, or even a significant other.

  • Can I go solo?

Of course!  Many of our travelers go solo…that’s why our trips work so well.  We match roommates so you do not have to pay a single room supplement and have an instant friend, or single rooms may be available on request for an additional fee.   BSSC trips are well-organized and staffed by friendly leaders who can arrange group meals and get-togethers.  If you want to meet new people and make new friends, group socializing is there for you, but if you prefer to do your own thing, that is totally fine too.

  • What is the age range?

Age varies from trip to trip, but weekends are in the 21-35 average age range.  You will see some younger, some older, but the majority will be in the 21-35 range.
    * Our weekend trips are 21+.

  • What are the hotel/sleeping arrangements?

We are staying in typical hotel, with 2 beds and two people per room.  If going solo, we will match you with a same gender, same age (close as possible), smoker/non-smoker roommate.  We do not match opposite genders, unless requested by both people.  OR you may request to be matched up with a friend or significant other as you wish, of any gender.  You may also choose to pay for a single room at an extra cost, based on availability.

  • Will there be people to ski and hang out with?

Yes!   The trip leader will arrange daily meetings to ski together, to meet for après ski, for the water park, for dinner, nightlife, etc.  You do not have to do all or any.  We don’t make anybody do anything, but if you want company, it will be there.  If you want to do your own thing, that is okay as well.

  • What are the chances there will be skiing?

Well, it is up to Mother Nature, but Jay has been opening by Thanksgiving for many years in a row and it is their goal to be open by then.    As long as it is cold, they can make enough snow to open.  Keep in mind the first slopes to open are black diamonds, followed by blue squares and finally green circles.  But even if the mountain is not open, there is plenty to do and makes for a fun weekend away after the holiday.

  • Are there any other activities other than skiing?

Yes.  A trip to Jay Peak would not be complete without a visit to the indoor water park, the Pump House.  Always a balmy 80 degrees it is the perfect spot to hang after skiing or if the weather outside is not cooperating.    There are other off-slope activities as well such as snowshoeing, ice-skating  in their state-of-the-art indoor arena, spa, and soon-to-opened Stateside Rec Center with indoor climbing wall and movie theatre.

  • Is there carpooling?

We will do our best to hook you up with others who would like to carpool.  We will share emails of those interested in needing rides or can take riders and you can reach out to them and arrange carpooling.  We cannot guarantee you will find a ride if you do not have a car, but we will try our best.   We can share your email before signing up for the trip.

  • Can I rent equipment there?

Yes.  There is a rental shop located right in the Stateside Hotel, as well as another shop at Tramside.  BSSC has group rates if you sign up in advance.
