Summer trips are back!  Come join us as we head to the Kennebec, the most popular WW rafting river in New England! 

Drive up Saturday morning at your leisure and enjoy the beauty of The Forks in Maine.  Go for a hike to a waterfall, go for a swim, or just relax riverside and take it all in.  Enjoy a campfire Saturday night and the starry skies at our overnight site for the evening.

On Sunday your epic day on the river starts at Harris Station, Maine’s largest hydroelectric dam. The steep rock walls that line both sides of the river are stunning as you head toward your first rapids, some Class II rapids to get you warmed up.  Soon after, you will be charging into Seriously Fun Class IV rapids like Big Mama and The Alleyway. Many people compare these big, splashy sections of river to a roller coaster ride – except way more fun!

A calm section of river with amazing views follows and here your guide will go over the plan for the biggest and most exciting rapid of the day – Magic Falls. This is where the stoke levels will reach their peak!

For the next few miles, you will tackle fun and splashy Class III rapids. Once you’re through the final rapid of the day, you’ll get to enjoy a 6 mile float through the heart of Maine’s wilderness. Be on the lookout for Bald Eagles as you hop in the river and go for a float. It’s plenty deep in most places and the water will be about 70 degrees in the middle of the summer!

After rafting all day enjoy the post rafting slide and video show of the day's trip (always a hoot) back at camp and a special apres raft BBQ lunch.

We will be staying at the Forks Fun Resort with our friends from 3 Rivers WW.  Take your pick from bunkhouses (platform tents with beds) or bring your own gear for camping.  Bathrooms, showers, and restaurant with cash bar available.  Not exactly roughing it. 

THE perfect way to beat the heat of summer.  Drive home Sunday at your leisure.  We can help with carpooling.

  • Where is the Kennebec located?

    The base camps are located in The Forks, Maine.  It is about a 4.5 hour drive from Boston.

  • Is rafting experience needed?

    No.  Previous rafting experience is not needed.    There will be instruction given and an experienced guide in each raft.  We do recommend though that you are comfortable in the water and know how to swim.  Although these are not required either, you will feel more comfortable as it is possible to be tossed out of the raft and into rapids.

  • Is this for singles or couples?

    Both.  Most of the people on all of our trips are single.  We do get many couples as well, but mostly singles.  Some come with a friend or two, or even a small group, and MANY come solo.  That is why our trips work.   They are great for everybody.  You will meet many new friends whether coming alone, with a friend, or a significant other.

  • Can I go solo?

    Of course!  Many people come on our trips solo.   We match bunk house mates, by gender, and its instant friends.    If you want to meet new people, make new friends, going solo is a great way to go.

  • What is the age range?

    Age varies from trip to trip, but weekends are in the 25-45 average age range.  You will see some younger, some older, but the majority will be in the 25-45 range.  
    * Our weekend trips are 21+ (there may be a corresponding family trip, but we will keep the groups seperate).

  • What is the camping/bunkhouse sleeping arrangement, can I get a single room?

    If you are camping, you bring your own camping gear/tent.  A designated campsite will be assigned to you (and any guests of yours) on arrival. BSSC folks will be near each other.
    If going solo or with a few friends in the bunkhouse, we will match you with same gender, same age (close as possible), bunk mates.  We do not match opposite genders, unless requested or okayed by all bunk mates.    
    Single rooms are not an option though, sorry, unless you camp.
    For couples, you need to either camp, or find other couples to share a bunkhouse with.

  • Can families attend these trips?

    Sometimes we run corresponding trips that are open to families.   They will posted on the website separately as family trips.  We try to keep the two groups separate while on location.
    For the Kennebec, there is an age minimum of 10 years old.   Younger kids may be able to do the lower portion float trip?  Ask for details.
