This page will continue to be updated as necessary. We are monitoring the situation daily and taking our information primarily from the World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH).
March 17, 1:30pm
BSSC is continuing to monitor the recommendations being made to help stem the spread of COVID-19. On Sunday Governor Baker issued an emergency order limiting gatherings to 25 individuals beginning on March 17 and effective until at least April 6. As a result of this ban and current federal guidance, we have decided to continue our postponement of leagues and activities to align with the governor’s recommendations. We will continue to monitor and update as needed throughout this time. Based on the recommendations, our staff is now working remotely but available as always if you have questions. We are hopeful that the measures being taken by all will help to limit the spread of the virus and get us all back to the activities we love as soon as possible.
March 16, 4:30pm
Due to the mountains closing down operations for the remainder of the ski season we have cancelled all remaining Day Ski and Ski Weekend activities.
March 14, 3:40pm:
We here at Boston Ski & Sports Club have been closely following, as have all of you, the guidelines, responses and actions taken in regard to the COVID-19 virus. We have decided after careful consideration to suspend activities indefinitely through at least March 22nd. We are following the lead of the many colleges and national organizations that are exercising increased precautions in relation to group gatherings. Our plan is to make sure our games and matches are all rescheduled. We will continue to update this page regarding reschedules and cancellations based on our evaluation of the community circumstances and information/guidance from the oversight organizations (i.e. WHO, CDC, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, etc).
At this time the following activities are currently suspended:
• All sports activities through March 22nd
• 3/15 Day Ski trip to Killington
• 3/17 Day Ski trip to Waterville Valley
• 3/21 Day Ski trip to Sunday River
• 3/22 Day Ski trip to Loon
• Ski Vacation to Morzine, France
• 3/20-3/22 Ski Weekend to Killington
At this time, other activities are on as scheduled. Feel free to reach out to the program manager of the activity if you have any questions.
Here is some further information on the declared a state of emergency that went into effect Tuesday to give "the Administration more flexibility to respond to the outbreak."
Based on recommendations intended to prevent further spread of the virus we suggest to follow the advice for everyday prevention of the flu, coronavirus and many illnesses is the same and includes:
• Practice good handwashing with soap and water, or alcohol based hand sanitizer
• Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
• Stay away from people who are sick
• Clean and disinfect commonly touched objects that may be contaminated by germs
• Stay home when you are sick to take care of yourself and avoid infecting others
This is a continuously evolving situation, and we'll continue to keep you posted as new developments occur.
