We want to know what you’ve been up to while social distancing! So we thought we would start by sharing what some of us BSSC employees have been up to. Join us all and #BSSC to share what you’ve been up to!
JAKE ALDRICH – PROGRAM MANAGER FOOTBALL, SOFTBALL, DODGEBALL
The main thing that Jake has been doing in “exile” is making sourdough bread. With the company of his roommate, he spent 9 days making the starter then another 36 hours making the first loaf. Somehow something went wrong, because it didn’t rise so it looked like a giant cookie. Jake also bought NBA 2k20 and started his own league stating, “If I can’t run leagues in real life I’ll do it virtually!”
ADAM PALMER – CREATIVE MARKETING MANAGER
For Adam, daily walks at lunch have been pretty key for social distancing. He has also started a new graduate class at Lasell, which should keep him pretty busy. To get ready for summer, he’s been watching grilling videos on YouTube. He has also been playing the new Call of Duty game with coworkers, which has recently been recommended by the WHO to aid in socializing during this time.
BRYAN HICKEY – SKI PROGRAM & MARKETING MANAGER
Bryan has been taking walks when he can and trying to learn to cook different things. He plays group trivia on zoom and has a putting course inside his apartment (we’re jealous too). Re-watching the office is a no brainer during this time home for him. Bryan tries to stay off social media as much as possible which, helps a lot to stay positive.
RYAN TERP – PROGRAM MANAGER BASKETBALL, SOCCER
Living on the water hasn’t made it too rough being at home 24/7. He’s done some home workouts, even loading up a backpack to add weight, and going on runs. Ryan is trying to keep a schedule, no matter how minor the task is, which is a great tip for everyone else social distancing.
RANDY FRIEDMAN – DIRECTOR OF SKI & TRAVEL
Randy has been taking walks around the neighborhood, stopping to waive to friends. He’s been staying quite active: riding bikes in the woods and parks, as well as a stationary bike at home. He’s even taken to running up and down the stairs in the house.
MEGAN MADDEN – MARKETING COORDINATOR
Megan has focused on maintaining a routine over this time at home. She’s spending as much time as possible in the backyard when the sun is out and binges Netflix when it is not. In addition to deep cleaning and organizing the house, her time at time has been spent painting and reading.
MARK ROBARTS – SPORTS DIRECTOR
Everyone at Robarts household is healthy and getting along. They have all 3 kids in the house for unanticipated togetherness. The kids are bonding really well after being basically apart since September. The weekends have allowed his family to declutter a lot and have many more projects and several family movie nights. “I have gotten NO exercise and have been eating a lot, that needs to change soon!” We’ll see, Mark. We’ll see. Not knowing when we'll resume BSSC play later is just crazy, but he’s looking forward to warmer weather. “Hang in there everyone,” he encourages.
RYAN WALSH – DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & SPONSORSHIPS
Ryan has been thinking of plenty of at-home workouts to try to stay in some type of semi-regular gym/workout routine. Going on hikes and walks to get some fresh air with his girlfriend Kate and her dog Sloan keeps the calories in check. He has enrolled in a free online course offered by Yale on The Science of Well Being and is working with the marketing team to put out some fun content through our social channels to keep the community engaged during these tough times
Now it’s your turn! Share your at home workouts and how you have been social distancing with the other active young adults of Boston. Don’t forget to hashtag #BSSC!
