Departure Planning
Airfare is not included, giving you the flexibility to travel on your own schedule. Travelers may choose to arrive early and enjoy extra time in Zurich or Switzerland before the group program begins.

Wednesday, September 23 – Arrival in Zurich
Meet the group at Zurich Airport in the morning and begin the adventure with guided sightseeing in Zurich. On the journey to Interlaken, enjoy a stop at a winery in Bechtel for a tasting before continuing into the heart of the Swiss Alps. After arrival, settle into the hotel and enjoy a welcoming group dinner. (Dinner included)

Thursday, September 24 – Free Day & Chocolate Workshop
Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Hike, bike, or explore the Interlaken area independently or with the BSSC trip leader. One recommended option is a scenic cogwheel train ride up to Schynige Platte for unsurpassed panoramic alpine views.  Take a long or short hike on the beautiful Panorama trail. Later, return to town for a fun and memorable private chocolate workshop where you’ll make your own custom Swiss chocolate bars. A Swiss highlight!  (Breakfast included)

Friday, September 25 – Guided Jungfraujoch: Top of Europe
Travel thru the Eiger by the famous cogwheel train with a local guide to the Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe and one of Switzerland’s most iconic destinations. Take in breathtaking glacier views, explore the Ice Palace and Sphinx Observatory, play and hike on the snow, and enjoy lunch high in the Alps before descending through spectacular mountain scenery on the return journey.  Time permitting, option for those that would like to hike as well. (Breakfast & Lunch included)

Saturday, September 26 – Free Day, Lake Brienz & Giessbach
Spend the day exploring more of the region at your own pace or join the trip leader for a scenic outing on a boat cruise on Lake Brienz to visit the roaring Giessbach Falls.  Take an easy and scenic hike up and over and behind the falls.  Then enjoy lunch at the historic Grand Hotel Giessbach with its amazing views.  Time permitting, head back to Interlaken and take the funicular up to Harder Kulm for stunning sunset views over Interlaken and the lakes below. (Breakfast & Lunch included)

Sunday, September 27 – Guided Schilthorn, Mürren & Lauterbrunnen
Today is packed with some of the most unforgettable scenery of the trip. Travel with our local guide by private coach and multiple cable cars up to the world-famous Schilthorn/Piz Gloria, famous for its James Bond site and spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau, Mont Blanc, and more.  Continue to the charming car-free alpine hill-top village of Mürren and enjoy lunch at the top of the funicular before heading down to the valley floor and the picturesque Lauterbrunnen Valley for a guided e-bike ride through one of Switzerland’s most storybook landscapes, known for its dramatic cliffs and 72 waterfalls!  No wonder it was Tolkien’s inspiration for Rivendell from Lord of the Rings. (Breakfast& Lunch included)

Monday, September 28 – Final Free Day in the Alps
Enjoy one last full day to make the most of the Jungfrau region. A suggested outing is the ski area Grindelwald-First.  Take a cable car up where alpine views are just jaw-dropping. If you have the nerve, venture out for a short walk around the Cliff Walk.  Not for the faint of heart. But everybody will enjoy the scenic hike to Lake Bachalpsee, considered by many locals as the most beautiful hike in the Jungfrau, offering a memorable final taste of the Swiss Alps. Whether you choose hiking, sightseeing, relaxing, or one more mountain adventure, this is your day to experience the region your way. (Breakfast included)

Tuesday, September 29 – Departure
Transfer to the airport for your return journey home, bringing back unforgettable memories and new travel friendships from an incredible week in Switzerland. (Breakfast included)

Things to know

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it easy to go on a BSSC trip by myself?

Yes! BSSC makes it easy and economical for the solo traveler. Our lodging options are spelled out clearly for each trip giving you the choice of room that best fits your needs.

For overnight weekend and vacation trips, how far in advance do I need to register?

For BSSC overnight travel, booking 3-4 weeks in advance is recommended. For week-long vacations, book early to guarantee your spot and get the best rates. Ski vacations are usually announced in the summer at a $100-$150 savings. Check each trip for specific deadlines and policies. The closer the travel date, the more complex and costly it might be to procure accommodations and/or airfare.

Can I cancel an overnight weekend or vacation and get a refund?

Refunds are possible – policies vary depending on the type of trip and timing of your cancellation. The closer you are to departure, the less likely we will be able to refund you 100%. Cancellations are subject to the regulations and cancellation fees set by BSSC, tour operators, and agents carrying out services. There is no refund for unused services. Please check specific policies for your trip. We also recommend that vacationers purchase travel insurance and can provide more info upon request.
