One of only two natural ponds remaining in Brookline, and with the adjacent Amory woods, it consists of the pond and land. The total area covers approximately 3.5 acres with a formal garden that was planted shortly after the turn of the century and cultivated ever since. Enjoy the fresh air amidst lush vegetation providing an excellent habitat for animal life rarely found in an urban setting.

With parking available at Alewife MBTA station, this sprawling urban forest is a local favorite. Walk or jog along trails and experience a rare side of nature without leaving Boston. Open sunrise to sunset gives active young professionals plenty of daylight hours to enjoy nature and being anywhere but home.

Also open sunrise to sunset, Breakheart includes two lakes and a large forest. With paved paths as well as some more strenuous hiking options, there is plenty of space to distance from others while everyone flocks outside to enjoy the warmer weather. Parking is available at either entrances of the reservation.

The banks of the Mystic River are almost entirely publicly owned and one of Massachusetts best protected streams. Follow the path along the river to get your steps in, or grab your fishing rod and cast a few (in approved areas.) The path is a great place to jog and "get away from the city" without going very far from your door.

This list would not be complete without mentioning it. Located right in downtown, its a green oasis in the city as well as America's oldest public park. Take a moment and appreciate the history of Boston and get some exercise and vitamin D in. We could all use it.

Did get out and visit any of these places? We want to see. Share your pictures (bonus points if you rep your BSSC jersey) with your friends and teammates online. Don’t forget to hashtag #BSSC and we'll see you there!
