This winter, BSSC heads to Sölden, Austria, one of the Alps’ most energetic and iconic high-alpine ski towns, for an unforgettable week deep in the heart of the Ötztal Alps. Famous for its glacier skiing, massive vertical, lively Austrian après-ski scene, and dramatic mountain scenery, Sölden combines serious skiing with the kind of electric ski-town atmosphere Austria does better than almost anywhere else in Europe. From long scenic descents and panoramic glacier views to bustling village bars and music-filled alpine nights, this is the kind of European ski trip that becomes legendary long after the snow melts.

This is far more than a ski trip — it’s a complete Austrian alpine escape where every detail has been thoughtfully arranged for you. From the moment you depart Boston, BSSC’s carefully coordinated experience allows you to fully immerse yourself in the skiing, scenery, culture, and après atmosphere of the Austrian Alps. Your package includes round-trip international airfare from Boston to Zurich on SWISS, deluxe motor coach transfers into the Ötztal Alps, seven nights accommodations at Riders In Hotel Sölden, daily breakfast and dinner, a welcome reception, porterage, and the support of experienced BSSC trip leaders throughout the journey.

Sölden is known for serious altitude and remarkably reliable snow conditions. The ski area stretches across Giggijoch, Gaislachkogl, and two glacier ski areas connected by 31 modern lifts and highlighted by the famous BIG3 — three lift-accessed peaks rising above 3,000 meters. With 146 kilometers of terrain ranging from wide-open cruisers and glacier runs to steep descents, dramatic alpine bowls, and unforgettable high-mountain scenery, every ski day offers something completely different. Massive mountain views, glacier panoramas, cozy Austrian huts, and unforgettable descents create one of the Alps’ most dynamic ski experiences.

What truly sets Sölden apart, however, is the atmosphere. This is one of Austria’s great après-ski destinations — a lively alpine village where ski boots naturally roll into crowded terrace bars, mountain huts stay buzzing well into the afternoon, and evenings are filled with music, energy, and classic Tyrolean hospitality. Whether you are relaxing over drinks after the lifts close, wandering the vibrant village center, or gathering for dinner with the group after another huge mountain day, Sölden captures the energy and excitement that Austrian skiing is famous for.

Our home for the week is Riders In Hotel Sölden, a centrally located alpine hotel perfectly positioned near the lifts, shops, restaurants, and après scene. Designed as an easy and comfortable base for a full week in the Alps, the hotel features a wellness area complete with sauna facilities, steam bath, ice grotto, and a whirlpool-style pool area — ideal for relaxing after long days on the mountain. Breakfast and dinner are included daily, creating the perfect rhythm for an unforgettable Austrian ski week: ski, après, relax, repeat.

This Austrian Alps ski vacation delivers exceptional value for a premium European mountain experience. Your package includes international airfare, deluxe accommodations, airport transfers, daily breakfast and dinner, welcome reception, porterage, and dedicated BSSC trip leadership — all seamlessly coordinated for a completely hassle-free glacier ski getaway in one of Austria’s most exciting mountain towns.

Airfare Options & Flexibility

The standard package price includes round-trip economy airfare from Boston to Zurich on SWISS. Prefer to use airline miles, upgrade your flights, or arrange your own travel? A land-only option is available for $800 less than the full package price. Guests booking their own airfare may still take advantage of the included group airport transfers by arriving before the scheduled group flight arrival time listed in the trip details below. Please note that group airfare does not allow seat assignment or upgrade requests. Skis may fly free on SWISS, but this cannot be guaranteed due to varying airline policies and operating conditions.

Availability is limited for this highly anticipated Austrian Alps adventure. Don’t miss your opportunity to experience Sölden — where glacier skiing, huge mountain terrain, unforgettable après-ski, alpine comfort, and dramatic scenery come together in one seamless European ski escape with BSSC.

Friday–Saturday, January 15–16: Depart Boston & Arrive in Austria

Your Austrian alpine adventure begins Friday evening as the group departs Boston Logan aboard SWISS for an overnight flight to Zurich. Upon arrival Saturday morning, meet your BSSC trip leaders, clear customs, gather at baggage claim, and board a private deluxe motor coach for the scenic transfer into the breathtaking Ötztal Alps.

The drive to Sölden takes approximately three hours, depending on road conditions, winding deeper into one of Austria’s most dramatic mountain valleys before arriving in the lively alpine village. After check-in at Riders In, settle into town, relax, attend the welcome reception, enjoy dinner, and begin making plans for the incredible ski days ahead.

Sunday–Friday, January 17–22: Glacier Skiing & Austrian Après

Each morning begins with a full European breakfast before heading out to explore Sölden’s legendary high-alpine terrain. Long scenic descents, modern lifts, dramatic glacier scenery, and unforgettable mountain huts make every ski day feel different from the last.

Things to know

Frequently Asked Questions
On weekends and vacations, will there be people to ski with?

From intermediate to advanced, chances are very good there will be many people that ski at your level. The trip leader/s will arrange for those interested to ski together on the first morning to match up with same-level ability. Beginners may want to sign up for lessons.

What are the demographics on BSSC trips?

In general, BSSC trips are designed for adults, 21 or older.*
For overnight travel the ages range from twenties to fifties, with a mix of couples, groups of friends, and singles travelling solo. Sometimes the more adventurous or strenuous the activity, the younger the crowd might skew. With exotic or more costly arrangements, you are likely to find a few more “well-seasoned travelers” mixed in as they check off their bucket list! BSSC trips are about us taking care of all the details, so you can just enjoy yourself, and perhaps experience something new, with like-minded people.

*The participation of minors is considered on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Ski & Travel Director. Minors are permitted on BSSC Day Ski & Snowboard trips. Check the day ski trip policies for more details.

Is it easy to go on a BSSC trip by myself?

Yes! BSSC makes it easy and economical for the solo traveler. Our lodging options are spelled out clearly for each trip giving you the choice of room that best fits your needs.

What are the rooming arrangements for overnight weekend and vacation trips?

BSSC traditionally offers “minimum occupancy”. Whether in a hotel or condo, it is typically two per room, and you each get your own bed. Nobody has to sleep on a pullout or rollaway. Select trips may also offer lower prices for triple and quad occupancy.

Single rooms may be available upon request for an additional fee. If traveling solo, we will match you with a roommate of the same gender and approximate age, or you may request to room with a friend or significant other of any gender.

For overnight weekend and vacation trips, how far in advance do I need to register?

For BSSC overnight travel, booking 3-4 weeks in advance is recommended. For week-long vacations, book early to guarantee your spot and get the best rates. Ski vacations are usually announced in the summer at a $100-$150 savings. Check each trip for specific deadlines and policies. The closer the travel date, the more complex and costly it might be to procure accommodations and/or airfare.

Can I get my own air and book land only with BSSC?

Yes, most BSSC ski vacations may be booked without air from Boston. Before you book any portion of your vacation, call us for a quote and to discuss your possible flight schedule. If our trip includes transfers, you will need to coordinate times to meet the BSSC group or be responsible for getting yourself to the resort.
