Softball Leagues Overview

BSSC is your year round supplier of top level softball leagues. Indoors, outdoors, coed or men’s, we have the league that fits you and your teammates schedule.

Our Greater Boston & Metro Boston outdoor leagues focus on competitive balance, as most leagues have 15-30 teams, playing 10 game seasons with 2-4 levels of play. These Leagues play at multiple premier locations including Allston, Brighton, Cambridge, Medford, Newton, Somerville, Watertown, Woburn and more. Teams can choose location preferences when registering.

We also offer single site leagues that are less of a commitment with shorter 6 or 8 game seasons & hour long games. For these leagues we offer Brighton, Cambridge & Medford options.

Softball doesn’t stop just because it snows in New England. Bring your team indoors and keep the fun rolling all winter! Our fast paced indoor league gives you an hour of softball before you and your team head to the local pub to celebrate your win.

BSSC knows Softball! All our leagues are slow pitch and umpired. You have the option to play on either a coed team or join a men’s only league. Leagues are offered on weekends and weeknights, so there is something to fit everyone’s schedule.
We welcome teams and individual men & women of all skill levels. Most BSSC leagues have multiple divisions, so you don’t have to have previous experience to join an outdoor softball league.

Things to know

Frequently Asked Questions
I played in school – Will I find BSSC leagues competitive?

BSSC offers all levels of competition. For most sports, multiple levels are available within the same league. Advanced to low intermediate divisions are often specified for popular leagues like Soccer, Softball, Football, and Volleyball. Speak with the BSSC program manager about your sport for help finding the best match for your skills and experience.

How will I know my teammates, game location and schedule?

If you are part of a full team, the captain who registered the team will receive all the league info to forward to his/her teammates. If you signed up as an individual, you’ll be emailed the time and place of your first game about a week prior to the start date. When you arrive at the game, check in with the BSSC representative, and they will give you a team shirt and point the way to your teammates. After that, the schedule & standings will be posted on the specific page for your sport on BSSC.com and updated periodically.  You can also always find your personal schedule on your dashboard page once it’s posted.

Do I need to bring my own equipment for sports leagues?

BSSC provides game balls and basics to play each sport (bases, hoops, nets, cones, and more). Softball bats, sticks (hockey and lacrosse), appropriate protective gear (shin guards, mouth guards, eye goggles, and goalie gear) and basic first aid supplies (bandaids, sports tape, ice packs) are each player’s responsibility. Check your sport rules for more specifics.

Can I play a particular position on the team?

Probably, but we don’t actually coordinate how things work within your team. Once you meet everyone at the first game, you can work it out amongst yourselves. Indie teams are friendly and welcoming.  Please let the BSSC sports manager know if you’d like to help out by being team captain, or can play goalie or pitcher!

What are the sign-up deadlines for sports?

All BSSC leagues and clinics are first-come/first-serve. Teams in existing leagues are given until one month prior to commit to returning to play the next session before we accept new teams. Some leagues sell out 5-6 weeks in advance, so we recommend that teams and individuals register as soon as you know you can play. On the other hand, there might be space as late as the league’s start date, so give us a call.
